I am going to be giving a presentation next month at the Imps Premier Plus business Club about Ramsomware and other email threats. Today whilst Kamila and I were working on the slides and promotional material for the event, she received this email – a perfect example of what I will be talking about.
This email had got through our online spam/virus filtering systems and poses a significant risk to our business if it was opened. My day today starts at the Lincoln Hotel for a meeting with Darren from Develop and Promote, followed by the Lincoln Business Network lunch meeting at the same hotel.
I got to the hotel early and have had a pleasant, productive hour in the lounge catching up on some work, with excellent coffee and a chocolate brownie.
Just to keep things extra safe I am using the hotel wifi secured using some VPN software Octagon Technology recommends – there are more details on the web site.

With one of the Octagon team living in Chesterfield the Clumber Park Hotel is becoming a regular meeting place. It has a comfortable area to sit, meet and work, wifi (essential for us), good coffee (probably even more essential!) and friendly, helpful staff.
After Alex and I had finished, we walked down to the lake through Clumber Park. I asked at the reception and the hotel was more than happy for us to leave our cars in their car park for an extra hour or so.
