Sky photos
There was a good sunset this evening.
Then it got better.
I needed another sky photo earlier today for a presentation Octagon is giving tomorrow.

This is one of the hubs from the felled horse chestnut tree.
I used the Camera+ app for this shot so I could split the focus point (the bud) from the exposure point (low down in the frame in the darker area).
In the next step, I used Photogene2 to make the colours more vivid by applying one of the standard colour filters. I then rotated the bud to a more interesting angle. The final step was to crop the extra trees from the shot.
here is the original shot

A short walk across the fields today – with Spring finally showing.
I found a convenient style and made some tea.

Whilst lightweight backpacking, last weekend, I struggled with my camping pillow on my new sleeping mat – so after a trip to Blacks in Lincoln I bought this inflatable pillow.
This pillow has a lower profile than the previous one so hopefully it will not roll of my mat, like the previous one did.
The down side is that the Vango pillow weighs more – 265g compared to 140g – but as I kept waking up as the previous pillow slipped off my mat I think it is worth the extra weight.
It packs down reasonably small and to save some weight it has attached elastic loops rather than a stuff sack.
I’ll test it next time I am away.
Update
This pillow failed after only one season – read here and here about the replacement.

We had to have the horse chestnut tree in our back garden cut down as it was diseased.
Tomorrow we will have to start piling up the logs!
