black and white
Time for today’s photo
I was covering today for staff on holiday and I had my own appointments to get to, I was wondering when I would get time to find a photo for today.
As I was coming along the A15 I had to stop to make a call for work so I pulled into the RAF viewing area and there was the Vulcan sitting there in the rain.
I have photographed the Vulcan before but it does make a good subject.

Spider Web

Jeremy spotted this spider web and thought it would make a good “photo of the day” subject
I chose to use black and white as it emphasises the structure of the web, which is lost in the colour image.
Newport Arch Lincoln
Newport Arch Lincoln
Newport Arch is one of the few remaining ancient Roman arches in the world that traffic still uses. Although that is not without some risk:
I wanted an image of the arch without vehicles – even if you time your shot between the passing cars there are often cars parked in front of the church. I got there early to try and avoid the parked cars but the problem then was to position myself to reduce the glare from the morning sun coming right into my lens (top left corner).
When I got frame I was happy with I then converted it to black and white as the yellow lines on the road were very prominent in the colour shot. I wonder if someone would park there even if there were no yellow lines?
When relations or friends come to visit this is one of the sights I always show them. Newport Arch as stood here for more than 1800 years and has had the history of Lincoln and England sweep past it.
