We have had a really busy day on the support side at Octagon Technology. This afternoon Kamila, a stressed Martin and myself have been at our seminar.

Today I have been to meetings to finalise three new projects for Octagon Technology. I have also been looking over my notes for my presentation tomorrow and responding to issues arising because one of out hosting providers had a major outage yesterday. Both jobs done from a coffee shop on my smartphone.
However I did not want to drink too much coffee so I ordered something different!

Today is the only spare time I have to set up some new secure laptops for the team at Octagon.

In between meetings and a networking event today, I also covered a couple of support jobs, one of which was helping a company out of a mess caused by the BT outage yesterday. The other was for a company that organises safaris to Africa – the toilet seat is theirs!

It has been a busy Friday atOctagon Technology, Martin has been out at Horncastle and Louth and the company has done several jobs in Lincoln. I have been to Newark, where the PC was d.o.a., but fortunately the client had taken up our advice and had their data stored locally on a NAS drive and then backed up to Octagon’s UK based secure offsite servers. This made it a stress free repair job for both the client and myself.
I had two telephone conferences with contract clients both of which broadly covered the same topic – about how they should use and protect their internet domain names.
I sketched out a firewall and Internet usage filtering solution for another contract client, so that they can control what sites and services are accessed using the company internet. They now need it written up so the board can approve the solution – I’ll do that on Monday.
The final job today was sorting some issues out on a Mac.

Kamila and I had great meeting this morning with Pauline Mountain from the charity Hope. We used our regular meeting space – one of the boxes overlooking Lincoln City football ground – part of the benefits of belonging to Imps Premier Plus.
The club has a large selection of memorabilia in the stand – I particularly liked this picture of a cigarette card from the 1930s.
