Skye Camping and Caravan Club Site
The Skye Camping and Caravan Club site is located on the side of Loch Greshornish near Edinbane. The site is very exposed to the the prevailing westerly winds – which were blowing hard as I put my tent up.
Because of the wind I pitched the back of the tent to the view (and wind) and put the wind break at the back to give the tent some protection. This also means I am cooking at the back of the tent.
Not that it is windy all time – this morning the wind had dropped off to a light breeze and I had my breakfast looking out over the loch.
There is no EE phone signal at the site so no 3G or even 2G, the posts I have made this morning have been done in Portree, where there is a poor 2G EE service. I looked around the village for a cafe with wifi but could not find one – and the couple of BT wifi signals I found had their public wifi turned off!

Kyle of Lochalsh
I stopped in Kyle and found a great viewpoint to overlook Skye and the bridge.

When I get a better Internet connection I will upload the full sized version.
Recent Runes
I have been listening to a couple of Terry Pratchett audio books whilst I have been away, so I was not surprised today to see some recent runes on a monument in Dingwall.

I am off to Skye tomorrow – where the EE coverage map shows no 3G and only intermittent 2G! So I may not be able to post my photos as regularly as I normally do, so I may have to “catch up” as and when I get Internet access.
Walking – Culbin Forest
Culbin Forest was planted to hold back and stabilise the sand dunes, consequently the forest floor is sandy and the trees go right up to the shoreline.

The wooden poles are defences left over from World War II.
