Having seen the forecast, which said ‘Heavy Rain’ and chance of Thunderstorms!, we consulted the map to see if we could get to Chop Gate any early by taking a short cut. So taking a right we headed towards Scugdale Hall and the over Wath towards Risedale and finally Chop gate thus saving 4 miles, not that we didn’t get wet again but at least only showers. By the time the heavy rain came we were safely inside.

The water tower at Ingelby Arncliffe just 3/4 of a mile from the Blue Bell at Ingelby cross. Only rained on once today which was a nice change & it only took 9hrs to get here. Sore and aching feet revived in the shower ready for tomorrow.

Traffic was a shock today, not that we haven’t seen any, rather that the A1 was the 1st really busy road we have seen since the M6 at Shap, and it was very quite unlike the A1 & later the A19. It’s all to easy traveling at 2 1/2 miles an hour to forget the pace of life elsewhere.
