After the snow I went into a snowless Edinburgh.

Lauder Common
Because of an afternoon conference call for a client, I only had time for a short morning walk.

There was a convenient bench up in the hills for a tea break.
I had packed my titanium meths stove for this trip – my Alpkit gas stove o-ring seal has been giving me some problems. It was completely still, when I came to make some tea later in the evening, so I sat at the picnic table and brewed up.
Thursday
Lauder
And a “VR”.
I spent a showery afternoon, in the car, drinking tea and watching videos on my iPhone.
Friday – on the way to Lincoln!

Sunshine and showers
I was heading out to walk a stretch of the Southern Upland Way this morning, when the rain started. So I shortened my route for the day and stayed local.
First stop was an excellent coffee and a bacon roll in The Spotty Dog cafe in Lauder.

After yesterday’s weather, today is bright and cold, but a good day to get out and walk.

Woodland walking and hail
I had to work this morning on a project for a client, so I went to a nearby hotel, with good coffee, sandwiches and good wifi.
Once done the weather started to change and eventually there was a heavy hail storm. Fortunately I was still in the car, heading for some wood I know where there is some interesting walks.
I got this photo in one of the warm sunny spells between the wind, rain and hail!
Lunch was back in the car – watching the hail.
Once back at the campsite some of the hail showers looked more like snow showers. Not such a bad evening though, dinner in the watching movies on my iPhone.

Walking today
After a slow start to the day, I set off to look at a hill fort, that is advertised here at the camp site. It was not far away but I stretched the walk out to about an 8 mile loop, which included a lunch stop. The weather was excellent, but once up high I needed a fleece to stop the chill in the wind. For lunch I found a convenient wall to shelter behind to keep out of the wind, so I could make some tea using my meths stove.

What remains of the Hill Fort and Settlement is a series of earth works, high up with a great view of the surrounding area.
