Caledonian Canal Inverness
The advice for the Cairngorms today was fog and rain so I headed up to Inverness – to buy a new compass as I have left mine at home and to walk along the Caledonian Canal. I parked by the River Ness and walked through the city to the Muirtown Basin, then out along the canal until it meets up with the river again.

We walked out along the Riverside Walk – heading out of Inverness along the banks and across the islands of the river heading towards Loch Ness.

It is not so sunny today – so we have come into Inverness, first for tea and cake and then to walk out along the River Ness.

I think the girl serving in the Cafe liked Jeremy – I do not think she could have got any more marshmallows into his hot chocolate. (Hidden Gem Cafe – near Inverness Bus Station.)

Highland Aviation Museum
On the recommendation of the owner of the Highflight bookshop in Dingwall we decided to visit this small museum run by enthusiasts.
It is excellent – plenty to see with many planes and cockpits you can get inside. There are a range of exhibits in the buildings including one about early Scottish island aviation.
If you choose to come be prepared; once you get to Inverness Airport there are no signs! We went into the airport and had to 3-point turn out of there, but then we found a sign to the industrial park and then the museum. (The local council had removed the signs as part of their preparations for the Open Golf Championships – this is what the staff told me.). So get details from their site below before setting out.
