A present from my Dad

After I had posted the previous BBC link, my Mum, who had seen the post, gave me this.

Mission to the Moon
Man on the Moon – Philips – click on the image for a larger version to see the details.

It is a contemporary “News of the World” record offer, commemorating the Moon Landing, which my Dad had got in 1969.

News of the World record offer

I have not played the record!

Click on the images below to read the transcripts of what is on the record.

Man on the Moon 1
Man on the Moon 2
Man on the Moon 3
Man on the Moon 4

Also from Google: we hear from the man who for the time, when he was orbiting behind the moon and the moon landing was being carried out, was (and probably for the first time in human history)  truly on his own.

Moon Landings and James Burke

James Burke 2007
James Burke in 2007

I can remember my Dad getting me up to watch the moon landings. Also I can remember sitting in the school hall with all of the school watching the space programmes as the story happened.

The BBC have put up a short clip of James Burke describing the event – I always liked his programmes, and I have still have some of his books, videos and audiobooks.
